Spigner Found Guilty In Manslaughter Case

NBC13.com has learned that a verdict has been handed down in the Lashonda Spigner manslaughter case.

Spigner has been found guilty by jury of criminally negligent homicide, which is a misdemeanor that carries a maximum sentence of 1 year in jail.

Spigner told NBC13HD's Jon Paepcke that she thought her guilty verdict was fair. The jury deliberated for 7 hours in the case.

Spigner's 3-year-old son Darrion Grant died in a fire after she left him home alone with his 9-year-old brother in February 2007.

While Spigner was at a party on the other side of Birmingham when a hot stove caused her house to catch fire.

Grant was trapped in the bedroom when burning debris fell from the ceiling.
