AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - You can party a little later in Auburn in the coming year.

Bars and restaurants in the east Alabama city will soon be allowed to sell alcohol 30 minutes later.

City manager Charlie Duggan says servers will  be able to sell alcohol until 2:30 a.m. six nights a week beginning Jan. 1. Sales must stop at 2 a.m. on Sundays. Up until now, 2 a.m. was the cutoff time seven nights a week.

The Auburn City Council approved the new alcohol ordinance this week.
