B’ham Man Charged In Child Sex Case

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A Birmingham man is being held in the Autauga County Jail on bonds totaling $120,000 after he was arrested in a sex-sting operation targeting child predators.

63-year-old Walter Donovan Spruill of Saint Clair Street was taken into custody Monday afternoon at a motel in north Montgomery.

Police allege Spruill drove from Birmingham with the intentions of having sex with someone he believed to be a 14-year-old girl from Prattville. That girl turned out to be a police officer.

He was charged with soliciting a child by computer and transmitting obscene material to a child by computer. Spruill
awaits an arraignment hearing

The case was worked by investigators from the Prattville and Montgomery police departments.
