If you think your 401k has taken a hit, imagine what the struggling stock market has done to the value of a multi-billion dollar pension fund.
The Retirement Systems of Alabama funds the pensions for the state’s teachers and other government employees.
RSA has more than 200 thousand active members and almost a hundred thousand retired members.
The fund, which is worth about 32 billion dollars, has seen a huge drop in value over the past several months. That could have an effect on all of us, not just on RSA members.
