BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The UAB football team practiced for an hour and a half Thursday morning at the UAB practice facility. The Blazers worked out in shorts and helmets, fine-tuning the game plan for Saturday’s homecoming contest against Florida Atlantic.
UAB head coach Neil Callaway was in good spirits as his team finished up practice.
“We got a lot done during today’s practice,” Callaway said. “We’re going to practice again tomorrow morning because we still have some work to do in order to be ready for Saturday’s game.”
The Blazers (3-5, 3-2 C-USA) return to Legion Field Saturday for their first home game in over a month to face the Florida Atlantic Owls (2-5, 2-2 Sun Belt). The contest will mark the second-ever meeting between the two teams and the Owls’ first visit to Legion Field.
Callaway named senior C Jake Seitz and senior QB Joe Webb as the offensive captains, sophomore LB Lamanski Ware as the defensive captain and junior LB Caleb Dyck as the special teams captain for Saturday’s matchup.
Kickoff is scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. CT. The game will be carried on the Blazers ISP Sports Network and can be heard in the Birmingham area on flagship station WUHT-FM 107.7 with David Crane (play-by-play) and Jake Arians (color) on the call. The pregame show will begin 90 minutes prior to kickoff.
