Auburn Tigers land 63 athletes on SEC Academic Honor Roll

A total of 63 Auburn student-athletes have been named to the 2009 Southeastern Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll, it was announced Wednesday by SEC Commissioner Mike Slive.

The 2009 SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2008 Spring, Summer and Fall terms.

Equestrian had the most athletes earn SEC Academic Honor Roll distinctions with 14. They include Amy Bohan (Animal Sciences — Pre Vet), Jessica Braswell (Agricultural Business & Economics), Shannon Hinton (Animal Sciences — Pre Vet), Courtney Kobak (Mathematics), Andrea Loar (Agricultural Business and Economics), Alexandra Loprete (Political Science), Liza Luker (Communication), Kylie Miller (Exercise Science), Paige Monfore (Pre-Medicine), Jennifer Reinhart (Elementary Education), Rebecca Rifkin (Animal Sciences — Pre Vet), Anna Schierholz (Journalism), Sarah Whitaker (Animal Sciences — Equine) and Mary-Elsye Winchester (Management).

The women’s track team was honored with 11 selections. They are Erika Akins (Electrical Engineering), Cathryn Albright (Elementary Education), Madeleine Collins (General Social Science Education), Sabrina Fischer (Sociology), Danielle Gilchrist (Rehabilitation Services), Holly Knight (Psychology), Brittany Mattrella (Zoology), Laurel Pritchard (Nutrition and Food Science), Amy Shaffer (Marketing), Allison Smith (Pre-Nursing Science) and Shaquela Williams (English).

Men’s track was next with 10 student-athletes selected. Gerard Brown (Undeclared Liberal Arts), Mark Fleming (Wireless Engineering — Hardware), Stephen Fly (Supply Chain Management), Luke Gaines (Industrial Design), Jhak Keegan (Biomedical Sciences), Elkanah Kibet (Economics), Jager Livingston (Chemical Engineering), Scott Novack (Chemical Engineering), Joby Peake (Applied Math — Actuarial Science) and Luke Robinson (Mathematics Education) were honored by the SEC.

The baseball team had nine selected, including Justin Hargett (Exercise Science), Austin Hubbard (Criminology), Michael Hurst (Marketing), Jon Luke Jacobs (Finance), Ryan Jenkins (Sociology), Ben Jones (Mechanical Engineering), Cory Luckie (Pre-Chemical Engineering), Chris O’Neil (Accountancy) and Kevin Patterson (Economics).

The softball team had six honored, including Katie Colton (Marketing), Lindsey Harrelson (Health Promotion), Holly Ragsdale (Accountancy), Aurora Salter (Political Science), Anna Thompson (Finance/Accounting) and Cassie Trosclair (Exercise Science).

The women’s golf and women’s tennis teams had four selections each.

Karlin Beck (Accountancy), Lauren Hawkins (Finance), Mariana Macias (International Business) and Sarah Thead (Economics) represented women’s golf, while Heather Bybee (Industrial Design), Whitney Chappell (Information Systems Management), Alexandra Haney (Entrepreneurship and Family Business) and Jil Hastenrath (Management Information Systems) were the women’s tennis selections.

The men’s tennis selections were Milan Krnjetin (Industrial Design), Lukas Marsoun (International Business) and Tim Puetz (Economics) while the men’s golf representatives were Rosson Anderson (Marketing) and Glenn Northcutt (Marketing).
