Hillary Clinton is faced with her senate confirmation hearing Tuesday on Capitol Hill.
She laid out the vision, and president-elect-Obama’s vision, for American diplomacy.
If confirmed, Hillary Clinton would be America’s face to the world, one that’s already recognized around the globe.
At a confirmation hearing before her senate colleagues, the Secretary of State designate promised the days of go-it-alone diplomacy are over.
“America cannot solve the most pressing problems on our own, and the world cannot solve them without America,“ said Clinton.
Clinton’s hearing was just one of five confirmation hearings Tuesday for Obama cabinet appointments.
She’d be the new president’s voice to the world as he faces twin wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
A war in the Middle East, and simmering rivalries in Russia, China, North Korea and Iran.
“I don’t get up every morning thinking only about the threats we face. There are so many opportunities out there,“ said Clinton.
Her star power is undeniable.
But there are questions about President Clinton’s global foundation work.
He’s agreed to be more transparent but one republican wants him to stop accepting foreign money.
But that seems to be more a bump than a roadblock on the road to confirmation.
