A volunteer firefighter in southeast Alabama
has been charged with trafficking methamphetamine.

Houston County Sheriff Andy Hughes said 30-year-old Gene
Chandler Elliott Jr., of Cottonwood also faces felony theft
charges.

Elliott, who was arrested Nov. 6, had served with the Madrid
volunteer fire department.

Hughes said deputies seized more than two ounces of meth and
numerous weapons from the old Madrid Volunteer Fire Department
building where Elliott allegedly sold the drug.

Elliott’s bond was set at $65,000. He remains in the Houston
County Jail.
