Video: Alabama Army serviceman remembered as a loving father, husband and dedicated soldier

JASPER, Ala—Solemn voices echoed throughout Eastside Baptist Church as hundreds of loved ones and friends honored the life of 23-year-old, Jasper native and Army Specialist Charles “dusty” Parrish.
The 2003 Walker County High School Grad was killed last week in Iraq when a grenade hit his vehicle.
Saturday morning, Parrish’s family was presented with a Bronze Star Medal and a Purple Heart for Parrish’s service in the Army.
Those who closely knew Parrish say they will remember him for his heart and dedication to his role as a solider and family.
Specialist Charles “Dusty” Parrish was scheduled to return from his tour of duty in July.  He leaves behind a wife and four-year-old son.

As of today, 4,312 military personnel have died in Iraq since the start of war in March 2003.
