After a full day of searching, still no sign of a missing boater in Lake Purdy.
An official with the Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service says two dive teams were called in to find a fisherman whom witnesses say fell out of a boat, struggled in the water, and was not seen again.
That happened about 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2008.
Dive teams from Hoover and Jefferson County were called in, and searched for about 7 hours Tuesday, and all day Wednesday for the man with no results.
Crews were also using sonar to find the man, who is described to be in his 60’s.
More than 50 people were called in to help in the search.
The BFRS says they have moved from the rescue phase of the search, to the recovery phase.
A spokesperson with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says the search was suspended at dark Wednesday, and is expected to resume about 8:00 a.m. Thursday, September 25, 2008.
