TV stations to test digital signals

Alabama broadcasters are preparing for the switch to digital television.
The Alabama Broadcasters Association will coordinate an analog/digital shut-off test Wednesday, starting at 5:25 p.m.
The association said participating stations will either simulate shutting off their analog transmitters or will display special messages on their analog or digital signals for one minute.
If you fail to see the digital signal - your television set needs to be replaced or modified with a converter box.
The change to digital TV will take place Feb. 17, 2009.
A converter box is not required if you are a customer of cable or satellite companies.

I have yet to reach anyone at Channel 33-40 to ask why neither myself or my sister in Hoover can receive their signal onour HD Converter Boxes with an HD Antenna.
Every time I call, I either get transferred to an engineer’s voice mail or I get a busy signal.
I live in the Southside of Birmingham, below a majority of the local television stations. But, my sister lives in Hoover, the same town as the station…but then, aren’t their transmitters in Tuscaloosa and Anniston?
