MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - State Agriculture Commissioner Ron Sparks says he plans to decide in five or six weeks if he will run for governor in 2010.

The Democratic agriculture commissioner says he’s already assembled a campaign staff. He also launched a Web site Saturday called “Sparks 2010.“

The Web site doesn’t say which office Sparks will seek in the next state election.

Sparks says that if he doesn’t run for governor, he will seek another major state office.

Sparks has been elected twice to the agriculture post and is prohibited by state law from running again.
