Pot on stove suspected in deaths of mother, son in Graysville

GRAYSVILLE, Ala.—- The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accidental deaths of a mother and son in Graysville this morning.
Deputies responded to the 900 Block of South Main Street around 9:00 a.m. Tuesday.
A 69 year old woman and her 50 year old son apparently died from smoke inhalation.
Investigators reported a pot on the stove was left burning.
The son apparently fell victim to the smoke while trying to carry the smoking pot outside.
The mother was found lying in the floor in the bedroom, also apparently overcome by the smoke.
The house suffered severe smoke damage, but the house itself is intact.
The identities have not been released.
