A missing device in Jefferson County with radioactive materials has been found.
The Alabama Department of Public Health issued a news release, which says an industrial gauging device containing radioactive materials was found, and returned to its owners.
The gauge was reported missing Thursday, August 28, 2008, after it had fallen off a pickup truck in Jefferson County.
The Office of Radiation Control was alerted that the device was turned into the Irondale Police Department Sunday.
The owners, Birmingham Engineering and Construction Consultants, Inc., then picked up the device.
Health officials were told the device only had a few scratches on it, and the radioactive materials remained secure inside.
