Police say a man jailed in Bay Minette
is linked to a Jamaican lottery scam that swindled two Foley
residents out of more than $1 million.
The Mobile Press-Register reports that Foley police Cpl. Tony
Nelson says 71-year-old Stanley Samuel Walker of Kingston, Jamaica,
is being held in the Baldwin County Corrections Center, charged
with theft of property and with bail set at $350,000.
One Foley victim told the newspaper that a man contacted his
wife several months ago and said she had won $48 million in a
sweepstakes. He said his wife sent the scammers about $200,000 and
ran up credit card bills of $500,000 to deliver them more.
In May, U.S. and Jamaican authorities announced the formation of
a task force to combat such scams.

First of all that’s so sad and tragic, and on the other hand idiotic. My next queston - What were she/they thinking?
Did they not know about that rule that goes, if sounds to good to be true it more than likely is. I’m sorry for their loss and hope they and others learn from this. Never pay for what you never ask for, won, or didn’t order.
