WASHINGTON (AP) - President-elect Barack Obama’s Cabinet is taking shape as the Democrat moves quickly to select officials for his administration.

Democratic officials say Obama intends to name Timothy Geithner as his treasury secretary. It could happen as soon as Monday in Chicago, barring anything unsightly showing up in his background check.

The other big cabinet news surrounds New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton. Her spokesman says she’s on track to be appointed secretary of state.

Obama’s choice for attorney general, a third critical post as the president-elect rounds out his top Cabinet echelon, is Eric Holder.

And officials also say New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson is a likely pick as commerce secretary.
