No snow for Birmingham Christmas

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Don’t expect a white Christmas in
Birmingham.
The National Climatic Data Center reports that there’s a less
than 5 percent chance of Alabama getting any measurable snow on
Christmas this year.
Gary Goggins is a meteorologist with the weather service. He
says the chance for white stuff is not nonexistent but very slim.
In the approximately 100 years since weather records have been
kept, the weather service reports Birmingham hasn’t had enough snow
on Dec. 25 to have a true white Christmas.
The closest the Birmingham area came to a white Christmas was in
1985. That year a light dusting occurred but the snow was not deep
enough to measure.
