Lawyer says Larry Langford rejected plea deal

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - A defense lawyer says former Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford rejected a plea bargain in his federal trial on bribery charges because he maintained that he had not broken the law.

Attorney Glennon Threatt, who represented Langford, said Tuesday that Langford’s reaction to the government’s offer was that he had done nothing wrong.

Threatt told The Birmingham News a plea deal would have required Langford to admit guilt and give prosecutors information on anything he might know about public corruption. Prosecutors say they can’t discuss the case.

After an eight-day trial in Tuscaloosa, a federal jury found Langford guilty last week on all 60 counts of bribery, conspiracy, tax evasion and fraud. Threatt says Langford is disappointed but remains in good spirits.

I just posted to Mr. Rasmussen on another site and this will “echo” it:

That he should try to make decent money, instead of this joke he’s been working on. He couldn’t stand the heat in the kitchen, so he bi$%#ed about Tuscaloosa. Evidently the cake and ice cream there upset their stomachs and they want a trial in, how ‘bout, Hawaii?

If this is the best Rasmussen has to sshow for his legal abilities, then I will select someone else should I ever have the need to!

I bet he is rethinking that now

I used to think highly of Langford back when he was mayor of Fairfield during Visionland days.  Then one day I saw his convertible illegally parked in front of a business - right at the front door.  Apparently he thought he was above the law back then, too.
