Kiplinger’s ranks Huntsville No. 1 city of 2009

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Kiplinger’s Personal Finance has ranked Huntsville No. 1 on its list of the 10 best cities of 2009.

The magazine made the announcement Tuesday on its Web site. Athens, Ga., ranked fifth on the list.

The magazine said it selected boomtowns offering solid employment opportunities and the talent to create new, well-paying positions.

The list will appear in the July issue of Kiplinger’s, which hits the newsstands June 9.

The top ten cities, in order, are Huntsville, Albuquerque, N.M., Washington, D.C., Charlottesville, Va., Athens, Ga., Olympia, Wash., Madison, Wis., Austin, Texas, Flagstaff, Ariz. and Raleigh, N.C.
