RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A statue of Confederate President Jefferson Davis may not end up at the American Civil War Center in Richmond, Va., after all.

Officials with the Sons of Confederate Veterans say they are talking to two other sites about the $100,000 life-sized bronze statue. The group offered to donate the statue to the museum.

Officials accepted the donation, but with no conditions on displaying it.

Brag Bowling, a board member of the Southern heritage group, says that’s not good enough. He declined to name the other sites he’s talking to about the statue.

The American Civil War Center examines the North, South and African-American perspectives of the Civil War. The statue created by Lexington artist Gary Casteel is set for completion this month.
