Governor Riley Puts National Guardsmen On Alert

Governor Bob Riley continued to prepare Alabama for the possible affects of Hurricane Gustav.
The Governor met with leaders of several state agencies in planning for the expected storm.
Governor Riley also spoke with Federal Emergency Management Agency Administrator David Paulison by phone Thursday, August 28, 2008.
Paulison says all steps are being taken to protect lives and property in the Gulf Coast region.
Governor Riley has put 3,000 members of the Alabama National Guard on alert.
The Governor has also directed the Department of Public Safety to prepare to reverse lanes of traffic in Interstate 65, if necessary.
