ATLANTA (AP) - Police say a 56-yar-old Marietta man has been
killed at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport when he was hit
on the head by an awning that had been struck by a shuttle bus.
Police spokesman Eric Schwartz said the bus for an off-site
parking lot was pulling into the bus loading area of the terminal
about 9 p.m. Sunday when it “somehow went forward and jumped the
curb.“
Schwartz said the bus hit a support for an awning that came down
and struck Jerome Evans. Evans was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital
where he later died.
Schwarz said Tuesday that the incident is still under
investigation, but no charges have been filed against the shuttle
driver.
