Brighton Woman Indicted For Social Security Benefits Theft

A Brighton woman has been indicted for one count of theft of government property.
In a news release from the United States Attorney’s Office in Birmingham, Tara Yvonne Hughes, 34, is accused of obtaining $24,704 of Social Security benefits for which she was not entitled between June 1, 2005 and October 3, 2007.
The maximum penalty for this offense is 10 years in prison, and a fine up to $250,000.
