Ala. soldier home from Afghanistan killed in wreck

    State troopers say an Alabama soldier was
killed in a wreck Monday night in Conecuh County.

    Relatives said 37-year-old Army Staff Sgt. Derrick Eugene
Richardson was home on emergency leave from Afghanistan to attend
his father’s funeral.

    Troopers said Richardson died when his vehicle overturned about
two miles south of Evergreen.

    The accident happened just before 9 p.m. on Conecuh County Road
29.

    Richardson was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas.
